Response to recording by Jim Rohn

In track 5, the bad judgement is that small errors in judgement repeated over time. In track 6, he believes that success is achieved by a few simple disciplines practiced everyday. Furthermore, to eat an apple everyday to remain healthy. It talks about study success in track 7 that studying habits are important. Writing in a journal will help to achieve success and a more organize way to study. In my opinion, what Jim Rohn said in the recording is extremely inspirational and helpful for my life now because studying is a big part of being a student. Therefore, I would recommend this recording to all students in GCA.

What is Success?

When talking about success, people think is joyful, happiness, and accomplishments. I know the feeling of being success. For example in last year's girls volleyball game, we won the other team by a lot of points. This is the moment that I felt the achievement and reaching an extremely big goal. Now, one of my personal goal is to get into a good college and also get involve in the new environment there. This is the biggest accomplishment that I have now in being a student. People who keeps winning will never feel the success in the end. Therefore, I believe that people who have never lost will never understand the feeling of victory.

Enjoyable Read in Quarter Two

One of my favorite read in Emily Dickinson's poems is "Tell all the Truth but tell it slant" and
"Success is counted sweetest". I think it is important to tell the truth to other people but do not tell it directly. Telling the truth slant is that you just get around the entire truth without lying. I like the part in the poem where it gives example about children fear of lightning and we fear the truth. But in the end, the fear eases because the child is given an explanation to the scary lightning. Children won’t be calm until the lightning is over. In my opinion, Success is counted sweetest is really a sad and grief story. The purple host died and was not able to participate and enjoy the win. Moreover, the sound of the victory on their side and he cannot see the success. The meaning in the poem touched my heart. Therefore, Tell all the Truth but tell it slant and Success is counted sweetest is the ones I enjoy the most reading in quarter two.

Princeton

Princeton University is the fourth-oldest college in the United States that is located in Princeton, New Jersey. The campus size is 600 acres and has a total of 7,910 students. Princeton University was ranked either first or second among national universities from 2001 to 2015. Princeton University has ranked first eight times and tied with Harvard five times. From the pictures I see from internet, I think that Princeton University is a really beautiful and big campus. If I have the opportunity to go to the east coast of America, I would like to go visit Princeton University in the future.

Les Roches

Les Roches is an international school of hotel management located in Bluche, Switzerland. I'm interested in this college because I would want to be a hotel manager as my future career and this college is one of the top three hospitality management schools in the world.  There are lots of students from all different kinds of countries studying in this college. Les Roches has a large campus and many social and cultural activities in and off campus. Also I would like to study in Les Roches because there are lots of global internships provided for students in their college life. I think this is a great way for students to gain experience and confidence. Therefore, I hope that I would have the chance to get in to Les Roches and have a fantastic time through my college years.

Interesting Story We Read Recently

A story that I think it is interesting is Dr. Heidegger's experiment because I like to read stories that has magic in it which makes it more interesting and mysterious. In this story is talks about Dr. Heidegger inviting four elderly friends over to his house to do a experiment. These four elderly friends are  Colonel Killigrew, Mr. Medbourne, Mr. Gascoigne, and the Widow Wycherly. He gave them drink the Fountain of Youth and also showed them that the Fountain of Youth can cause the old rose to bloom. The guests drank and found out that they have grown young again. They love to be young and they had fun. But in a few minutes, the four guests became old again. In the end, Dr. Heidegger had learned a lesson from watching the guests drinking the Fountain of Youth, and he would never want to drink it. On the other hand, the four guests didn't learn any lesson from it. They were really greedy so they traveled to Florida to get the Fountain of Youth and keep drinking it day and night.

Olaudah Equiano

Olaudah Equiano writes his own autobiography about he and his sister got kidnapped around the age of 11 and was sold by the local slave traders. Equiano was first put up for sale in Barbados but he was not purchased. Then, he was sent to Virginia. In Virginia he was sold to a Royal Navy officer called Lieutenant Michael Pascal. Pascal places Equiano on a trading ship and he traveled the oceans with Pascal for eight years. That was the time Equiano learned how to read and write. In the end, Equiano saved his money and bought his own freedom.

Science Fair Topic

This year I am taking physics so I would be doing a science project related to physics. One science fair topic that is quite interesting to me was called "Making A Candy Waterfall: Can Solids Flow Like Liquids?" Sand, rice, and cereal are all granular materials, which means they are all made up of solid particles. In this science project, I will be determining how the size of different granular materials affects their mass flow rate through a funnel.

My Personal Interest

One of my personal interests is traveling. The first time I started to travel was when I was three years old with my parents. It was the time I moved to Canada for five years. I love traveling because it's a way for me to take a rest and relax. I love to learn cultures from different kinds of countries, try out foods that I have never had before, and experience a new life. These are all the reasons why traveling is my personal interest and a activity that I really enjoy doing.
